Yungblud-inspired lioness roars into the spotlight at Doncaster Dome as Pride of Yorkshire trail guide launches

Doncaster Dome is set to welcome its newest member of the pride – a lioness sculpture inspired by GRAMMY Award-winning, Doncaster-born artist Yungblud.

Lioness ‘Supermoon’ was created by Sheffield-based muralist and tattoo artist Enso. The black and white colour palette takes inspiration from Yungblud’s album of the same name, featuring the wings iconography from the cover artwork.

During a recent visit to Sheffield ahead of his live show at the Utilita Arena, Yungblud hand-signed the monochrome lioness sculpture which will go on display at the main entrance to Doncaster Dome, which is managed by Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT), from June until September 2026.

Gary Jepson, general manager at Doncaster Dome, said: “We’re so pleased to be supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital and hosting a lioness inspired by one of Doncaster’s most creative and globally-celebrated music artists. Supermoon is such a striking sculpture and hosting her here at the Dome is a testament to the wealth of creativity that the exists in our magnificent city.”

Currently embarking on his acclaimed IDOLS world tour, Yungblud previously performed an emotional homecoming performance at the Doncaster Dome to an audience of over 3,000 fans in 2021.

Yungblud’s close friendship with the late rock musician Ozzy Osbourne saw him win a GRAMMY earlier this year for Best Rock Performance. Yungblud performed the Black Sabbath hit ‘Changes’ live from Villa Park at an event that would be the Birmingham-born artist’s final public appearance before his death later that month.

Supermoon will join 149 other large lion and lioness sculptures across the streets, parks and public spaces of South Yorkshire this summer.

The initiative marks the 150th anniversary of Sheffield Children’s Hospital, with the sculptures set loose across South Yorkshire for the hospital charity’s biggest ever fundraising campaign.
