Victoria Cross Trust Nominated for the Kings Award
We are proud to announce that our charity the Victoria Cross Trust has been nominated for the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. This follows on from The Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award for Employer Recognition received in 2024 alongside other notable recognition for the work we undertake.
Our charity is based in Frenchgate and undertakes restoration works on military memorials and graves within communities paid for by the funds we raise through retail outlets in Frenchgate. In 2025 we raised funds for an completed 180 restorations ranging from heritage approved cleaning to full restorations. An example of our most recent work was the placement of a memorial headstone commemorating the services of Fred Adamson who sadly passed away in 2025 aged 105. Fred served in the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and landed on DDay 6th June 1944. He was wounded and returned to service once he had recovered getting married in the meantime to Elsie.
We were honoured to be asked by family members to complete the work for them.
Lest We Forget.
