Dr Pretty Basra shortlisted AGAIN for UK Optometrist of the Year

We're proud to announce that your local Doncaster-based optometrist Dr Pretty Basra of Edwards & Walker Opticians has once again been recognised nationally for her outstanding work in eyecare, after being shortlisted for the Optometrist of the Year 2025 award.

This marks the fourth time in seven years that Pretty has been named as one of the best opticians in the country, and her second consecutive shortlisting, following a nomination in 2024.

The award recognises UK-based optometrists who demonstrate clinical excellence, patient-first thinking, and a commitment to improving both the profession and the communities they serve.

Pretty is the co-owner and Consultant Optometrist at Edwards & Walker Opticians, an independent practice based in Doncaster city centre. She's spent over 20 years delivering advanced, compassionate eye care to local patients, with specialist expertise in complex cases.

In 2024, she led a full redesign of the Edwards & Walker practice, creating a purpose-built, patient-focused space aimed at reducing anxiety and improving the overall experience of eye care.

The practice has since been praised for its spa-like environment and intuitive design that helps patients feel more at ease during eye examinations.

In addition to her clinical work, Pretty champions women in optometry by offering mentorship and leadership development opportunities. Her work has been recognised by a number of national publications, including Optometry Today and Women in Optometry.

The winners of the Optometrist of the Year award will be announced later this year at a national ceremony.
