Bawtry's Famous Bra Bunting Returns as All In Pink Campaign Expands Beyond the Town

Originally launched in 2014, the campaign has evolved through several successful initiatives over the years. Now, under the new banner of All In Pink, it is expanding beyond Bawtry for the first time, bringing together the communities of Tickhill and Epworth to raise awareness of breast health and raise funds for CoppaFeel!, the UK's only youth-focused breast cancer awareness charity.

Bra collection bins are now being placed in businesses across all three towns, giving people the opportunity to donate unwanted bras that will become part of Bawtry's famous bra bunting before going on to support both people and the planet once the campaign has ended.

Last year's campaign saw more than 600 bras donated, and organisers are delighted to reveal where those donations have gone.

The bras have recently been delivered to Lingerie Wardrobe in Hatfield, a social enterprise that ensures every donation has a purpose. Wearable bras are redistributed to women who need them, while those no longer suitable for wearing are carefully deconstructed. The metal components are recovered and recycled, while the fabric is processed and transformed into new textile materials through a UK closed-loop recycling system, preventing them from ending up in landfill.

In addition, around 40 new and nearly-new bras were donated to Bassetlaw Food Bank, helping support women experiencing hardship through the organisations and community groups the food bank works alongside.

Charlotte Lister, Bawtry Lead for the All In Pink campaign, said:

"People often think they're simply donating an old bra for our famous bunting, but every single donation has a journey. Some will help create the colourful display that has become a symbol of breast cancer awareness in Bawtry, others will provide dignity and confidence to women who need them, and those that can't be reused will be responsibly recycled rather than ending up in landfill. It's amazing how one simple donation can have such a lasting impact."

The All In Pink campaign officially launched at Bawtry Hall on Tuesday 8th July, bringing together businesses, community groups and residents from Bawtry, Tickhill and Epworth ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Organisers are also encouraging everyone to use the campaign as an opportunity to start conversations about breast health and remind family and friends of the importance of regularly checking their chest and knowing what is normal for them.

The campaign will culminate with the All In Pink Charity Ball at Bawtry Hall on Saturday 24th October, bringing together supporters from across the three towns to celebrate the campaign while raising funds for CoppaFeel!.

Because every bra donated helps create something much bigger than bunting.
