The long-awaited Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, widely known as Martyn’s Law, has been enacted this year. Named in memory of Martyn Hett, who tragically lost his life in the Manchester Arena attack in 2017, the legislation brings new and robust responsibilities to organisations that own, operate, or manage publicly accessible premises and events. At its heart, Martyn’s Law requires organisations to take proportionate steps to reduce the risk from terrorist attacks and to protect the public.
