Whyy? Change Promotes Governance Director to Managing Director

Ray Byrne, CEO of Whyy? Change Limited, a leading training and apprenticeship provider in South Yorkshire, has announced the promotion of Emma Harrison to the post of its Managing Director.

Emma is currently the company's Governance Director, but will take on her new role later this month, with responsibility for all things training, including operational performance, customer and learner experience, delivery planning for commercial and apprenticeship training.

Since joining Whyy? Change in 2019, Emma has played an integral role in the business' growth, whilst keeping a close eye on its governance. In April 2021, Emma’s commitment to apprenticeship training and leadership skills was recognised by Ray and she was promoted to Governance Director.

Speaking about the appointment, Ray Byrne, CEO of Whyy? Change Limited, said: “Systems matter, and it was always my intention to build the business with strong governance in mind. Emma was my first recruit to the cause and was tasked with protecting the business from me. Emma leads from the front by being a role model in her practice.”

Emma has successfully implemented governance processes and policies to maintain high-quality standards of apprenticeship training. Getting Whyy? Change on to RoATP, the main apprenticeships provider list, securing CIPD centre status and being named as a ‘Good Provider’ by Ofsted are just some of the incredible achievements Emma has been recognised for.

With the introduction of Whyy? Change’s sister brand, Whyy? Unboxd, the business will restructure under the umbrella of Whyy?, with ‘Change’ and ‘Unboxd’ being two separate divisions.

Whyy? Change will focus on all things training and apprenticeships. Meanwhile, Whyy? Unboxd will provide an alternative solution to traditional agencies, consultants and business coaches, by giving you access to a unique pool of industry experts as and when you need it.

This move will see Emma become the Managing Director of Whyy? Change, making her responsible for strengthening the company's aim of providing business knowledge & services to transform people and industry.

Upon finding out the news of her promotion, Emma Harrison Managing Director of Whyy? Change, said: “I am excited to be appointed to the role of Managing Director, where my focus will be on continuing to ensure all learners who come to Whyy? Change are developed, supported and challenged while having an engaging experience along the way.

"Through working closely with the employers who trust us with developing their people and taking the time to understand what makes them tick, we will continue to support them with their transformation journeys.”

Ray Byrne will assume overall leadership of both Whyy? divisions as the Chief Executive Officer, with his role focusing on the strategic direction of the business, innovation and people management, governance, resources and finances of Whyy? Change and Whyy? Unboxd.

Whyy? Change have high aspirations for the future, with Ray sharing his delight on Emma’s new role and what it means for Whyy? Change and Whyy? Unboxd:

“Today is a good day. The foundation for any effective organisation is good & effective leadership, and in Emma we have a leader that believes in behaviours build outcomes. The good news for #teamwhyy is that if I undertake any training delivery, I also have to report into the Managing Director.”
