Shoppers at Doncaster’s Lakeside Village Outlet are set to step back in time as the centre celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with three days of events.
Victoria Cross Trust, based at the retail outlet, is putting on a series of live music and dance performances that are themed around the '40s and '50s. These will take place on Thursday June 2, Friday June 3 and Saturday June 4.
Di Mellis, centre manager at Lakeside Village said: “We are really looking forward to the Queen’s Jubilee Weekend and are hoping to see customers visiting the centre dressed in their best 1940s and 1950s outfits to join in the celebrations.
“Visitors will be invited to put their best foot forward and learn the jitterbug and lindy hop with two dance workshops a day, over the three-day event, and there will also be crafting where we’ll be encouraging children to create their own crown, design their own bunting or write a letter to the Queen.
“We’ve also got singers on site each day with Airborne Angel appearing on the Thursday, The Ladidah’s on the Friday, and Miss Laura Alice on the Saturday.
“The centre will look fabulous, and we hope that our lovely customers will come along and join in the celebrations with us.”
The popular monthly Artisan and Craft Fayre will also be returning to the centre over the Jubilee Weekend, with it being onsite on Friday 2 June and Saturday 3 June.
Here, over 30 stalls — selling everything from food and cakes to wood craft and bath bombs — will offer customers something different for the weekend.
Di added: “There is so much more taking place throughout the jubilee celebrations, with displays from the Sea Cadets, vintage armed forces vehicles and vintage cars on show.
“This will be a great opportunity for people to celebrate with a real sense of community.”
