Shop, learn, thrive with weekly community support at Lakeside Village

Shoppers visiting Lakeside Village Retail Outlet in Doncaster can benefit from a range of advice and support thanks to a partnership with the City of Doncaster Council.

Neighbourhood teams will be on site at Lakeside Village every Tuesday, offering advice on topics ranging from wellbeing to recycling.

Abby Chandler, deputy centre manager at Lakeside Village said: “We are always looking for ways to add more to our shoppers’ experience. Last year we piloted a regular slot where different officers from the City of Doncaster Council were available to talk to customers, offering information, advice and guidance on a number of issues including wellbeing concerns, skills development and the latest updates on waste and recycling.

“The pilot was a huge success with more than 260 people engaging with the support from May to October.”

Following this success, Lakeside Village has invited the Neighbourhoods Team to extend their offer into 2026, and officers will be on site every Tuesday from 11am until 1pm.

Councillor James Church, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Planning and Public Health, said: “The pilot project at Lakeside Village was a great success and we’re delighted to be able to extend this support into 2026.

“City of Doncaster Council teams are there to support people with queries and act as a point of contact for any issues the council can help with. In a six-month period last year, the teams interacted with 267 people and held 63 conversations that have resulted in issues being resolved or connected to the appropriate support.

“They also supported 17 cases where crime concerns were referred for further action by Neighbourhood Officers. New for 2026, the sessions will also include advice from partners from the Primary Care Network and Doncaster’s Skills Hub who will be on hand to discuss health issues and people’s aspirations for learning and employment respectively.

“Our teams look forward to meeting more customers at Lakeside Village and supporting them throughout the year.”
