With eight days until elections to the Board of Directors closes, Doncaster Chamber CEO Dan Fell has written to members to encourage them to vote to elect three new representatives that they feel will best further the interests of the business community, the Chamber, and the borough.
Ballot papers have been emailed to member representatives directly. Please email email@example.com with any questions.
I am writing to encourage you to cast your vote in the online ballot to identify new Non-Executive Directors to the Chamber’s Board. The Chamber is owned and led by its members and it is important that our Elected Directors are given a mandate – via these elections – to work with me to shape the strategic direction of your organisation.
These are extraordinarily challenging times for the business community, Doncaster, and the Chamber itself. The role of our Board is work with myself and the Chamber’s senior leadership team to set the strategy of the organisation, ensure that we are delivering the optimum service for our members and to support the wider development of Doncaster’s economy, including through our policy and representation activities. Given the current climate, it is more important than ever for the Chamber to have a diverse, skilled and ambitious Board of Directors that is fully representative of the Doncaster business community. This will help ensure that the Chamber can navigate the coronavirus pandemic and thrive in the mid-term. Even more importantly, it will help to ensure that best serves all areas of the local business community throughout the current crisis and beyond including in areas such as: networking and events, supply chains, international trade, business support, business voice and education and skills.
We already have a strong Board that provides high challenge and high support to the team at the Chamber. If you would like to know who our existing Directors are and what businesses and sectors they are from, you can do so by visiting our website. I am delighted that there is high interest in joining the Chamber’s Board this year and look forwards to working closely with the candidates that are successfully elected.
There are six outstanding candidates this year for three vacancies. It is therefore really important for members to vote to ensure that they are represented by candidates that they feel will best further the interests of the business community, the Chamber, and the borough. Brief supporting statements from the candidates are available on our website. All Chamber members (one person per member) is permitted to vote in this election; you can also give your vote to the Chamber’s President or another Proxy if you prefer. Please submit your vote by completing the online ballot paper. The deadline for voting is 19th November.
The successful candidates will be announced at the Doncaster Chamber AGM on 16 December. Attending the AGM is also an opportunity to meet the Chamber's existing Directors and Senior Management Team, find out more about how they are serving and representing your business, ask any questions and put forward ideas. Reserve your place via our website.
