Paws for Fun Day returns to Lakeside Village in March!

A fun charity day celebrating our furry four-legged friends will return to Lakeside Village Outlet Shopping next month.
 
The first Paws for Fun Day was held in September last year and was such a success that it is back for 2026 even bigger and better!
 
Lakeside Village will once again team up with Barnsley & District Animal Welfare (BADAW) for the event on Saturday, March 28, with an extra fun class of ‘Scruffiest Dog’ included to attract even more dog owners.
 
The event will take place on the Lakeside Village lawns, with a dedicated area for the dog show. The fun gets underway at 9.30am with a two-hour free dog photography session, followed by the dog show. There will be stalls and food, and a chance to meet Donny Dog, Doncaster Rovers’ mascot, and the opportunity to learn more about the work of BADAW.
 
Donny Dog will be at Lakeside Village from 10.30am to 11.30am prior to Doncaster Rovers’ match on the day and will be happy to have photos taken with customers and fans.

Abby Chandler, deputy centre manager at Lakeside Village said: “Last year’s event was such a huge success that we were keen to bring it forward in the season and increase the fun. We’ve always been a dog friendly place to visit, and we’re thrilled to be able to add extra elements to the day and attract lots of lovely dogs from the local area and beyond.
 
“We want to see lots of canines on the day, big and small, as we look to raise funds towards the wonderful work undertaken by BADAW. There are lots of classes to enter – including the waggiest tail award!”
 
Barnsley and District Animal Welfare (BADAW) was formed early in 2008. The charity rescues abandoned and unwanted dogs with the aim of finding them new, forever homes.
 
All the charity volunteers work free of charge, and all donations go towards the care and treatment of the dogs.
 
Julie Moss from BADAW said: “We had a fantastic time at last year’s Paws for Fun Day and were only too happy to once again team up with Lakeside Village. Our volunteers will be on hand to ensure the event runs smoothly and to meet lots of lovely dogs and their owners.”
