Northern College Hosts South Yorkshire Rural Crime Initiative Launch

Northern College recently welcomed the South Yorkshire Police Motorcycle and Rural Crime Team to its Wentworth Castle campus in Barnsley, as part of the launch of the new South Yorkshire Rural Crime Initiative.

The event was one of four launch events taking place across South Yorkshire during the same week.

Residents, farmers, and local businesses were invited to attend, speak with officers, and find out more about the support the initiative offers.

The South Yorkshire Rural Crime Initiative is being delivered in partnership with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and represents a significant step forward in addressing rural crime across the region.

Through the initiative, businesses have the opportunity to apply for funding to purchase and install crime prevention products and materials, with the aim of reducing rural crime and fear of crime, bringing offenders to justice, and keeping communities safe.
