CPH2 Enters Purchase Order With AFCryo

The Clean Power Hydrogen Group 2 (CPH2)  is pleased to announce that it has entered into a purchase order with AFCryo, a New Zealand-based manufacturer of composite cryostats and cryogenic cooling systems, for the sale of a 1MW MFE220 electrolyser unit.

Set to be delivered in early 2023, this is the second of these units that AFCryo has purchased within the last 18 months.

A Doncaster-based green hydrogen technology and manufacturing company, CPH2 has an established working relationship with AFCryo and utilises their cryogenic cooling system in its MFEs.

CPH2's MFE220 runs with 1MW of input power with eight stacks and is capable of producing 450kg/day of high purity hydrogen output. The stack is made of ubiquitous materials and generates a mixed wet gas.

The wet gas then passes through a series of driers before entering the separation unit where the oxygen is cryogenically separated from the hydrogen. The cold energy from this cryogenic process is captured via a heat exchanger and used to super-cool the incoming mixed gas, thereby improving the efficiency of the process.

The MFE is scalable, easily transported and assembled in the required scale and specification for the end customer.

In May 2021 AFCryo placed an order for its first 1MW MFE220 electrolyser, with delivery anticipated in September 2022. Additionally, in 2021, AFCryo was appointed as a non-exclusive agent for the marketing and sale of the CPH2 electrolyser system in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Both of these electrolysers will be used as part of the decarbonisation of New Zealand's heavy transport fleet.

Jon Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of CPH2, commented: "We are delighted to receive our second 1MW MFE order from AFCryo, another positive commercial step for the Company. We have a strong working relationship with AFCryo as the Group utilises its cryogenic cooling system in our electrolysers and the further order of another electrolyser from the Group shows the trust in each other's products. We very much look forward to continuing our relationship with AFCryo and continuing our partnership in the region."

Hugh Reynolds, Technical Director of AFCryo, commented: "I am delighted to announce another purchase order with CPH2 whereby our close commercial relationship and appreciation of each other's technical standards, mean that we can enter into a purchase order knowing the high quality and efficiency of the product. We see CPH2's membrane free technology as something which is potentially game changing on a global scale for green hydrogen manufacture and we are very happy to be both a supplier and customer to the Group."
