In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week we're urging employers to look at the benefits of hiring apprentices to develop a skilled and qualified workforce.Commenting on this year's Apprenticeship Week, Matthew Lawrie, Business and Education Adviser at Doncaster Chamber said: "Apprenticeships are a real investment for the future. Apprentices can be any age - from school leavers and graduates to individuals who may be looking for a career change, so the opportunities are wide and varied. Businesses can adapt the training to the needs of their business as well as expanding and upskilling their workforce.
"We work with businesses day in and day out who tell us how hiring an apprentice has been a productive and effective way to help them develop their workforce to be motivated, skilled and qualified. Government incentives have been a great boost and we encourage anybody who is considering hiring an apprentice to take them on before the deadline."
Government incentive payments which have been extended until 31st March 2021. Any employer who hires a new apprentice aged between 16-24 years old will receive a payment of £2,000 and employers looking to hire apprentices aged 25 and over will receive £1,500. These payments are in addition to the existing £1,000 from the Government for 16 to 18-year-old apprentices.
