I'm running the Curly's Doncaster 10k for darts Doncaster!

I’m running the Curly's Doncaster 10k to raise funds for Darts Doncaster and I’m so excited (and a bit nervous) for race day!

As a quick back story, running became a hobby for me during lockdown, like I’m sure it did for many of us. It helped me manage stress, get outside, and clear my head. Since then, I’ve always fancied competing in a race, inspired each year by runners who push themselves to complete 5ks, 10ks, marathons and more, all while raising money for causes close to their hearts. So when the chance came to run in aid of darts, a Doncaster-based charity making the arts more accessible for our very own community, I knew I had to say yes!

As a creative kid growing up in our town (now city), I often didn’t know where or how to explore my artistic side outside of school or home. A charity like darts would have opened new doors for me and given me the chance to try more creative activities, meet like-minded people and build even more confidence to follow my passions.

The arts have always been part of my life, both inside and outside of education. Today, I’m lucky enough to run my own business, Be Reyt Social, which is centred around being creative online and thinking outside the box. Honestly, I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t been able to access the arts throughout my life and I hadn't had the support from family and friends to go for a creative career. Because of this, having access to the arts for everyone is something I will always champion and advocate for, especially for places like Doncaster where you don't often hear of creative career stories unless you look for them.

That’s why I want to give back to darts. They make creativity accessible to everyone in Doncaster, no matter their age, background or ability. From visual arts workshops to music, dance and drama, darts creates safe, inspiring spaces where creativity can thrive, grow and inspire.

By running the CURLYS Doncaster 10k, I hope to help darts continue their vital work. Every pound raised will support more opportunities, joy, and confidence for people in Doncaster, whether they want to enjoy the arts as a hobby to relax, as part of creative health, or even as a pathway to exciting future careers.

If you would like to donate to my just giving page, thank you very much! It is really appreciated and the link to do so is below. If you're not in a position to donate, no worries! If you would like to, sharing this post and the story of darts is again, very appreciated - I have posted about this on all of my social media pages if you find it easy to share them on there!

Thanks guys!
