From the Front Line to Parliament: Laurence’s Voice for Social Care

On 2nd February, Laurence Bansil, Care Manager at Meadow View owned by the Hesley Group, took the voices of the social care workforce into Westminster Hall.
 
Laurence is the creator of a national petition calling for fair and achievable settlement routes for colleagues on Health and Care Worker visas, recognising the essential role they play in supporting vulnerable people across the UK. Seeing this petition debated by MPs is a rare and significant milestone, and a powerful example of frontline leadership shaping national conversation.
 
During the debate, Lee Pitcher MP, highlighted Laurence’s call for stability in social care, including:
 

• Protecting the five-year Indefinite Leave to Remain route for those already working in the sector

 

• Ensuring full impact assessments before decisions are made that affect thousands of lives, services, and the people we support

 
Laurence attended the debate alongside Hesley Group CEO Virginia Perkins, reflecting shared recognition of how workforce stability directly impacts care quality.
