Doncaster’s Great Green Read Writing Competition Seeks Match-Funding for Prize

Doncaster's Great Green Read is back for a second year - with children invited to boost their literacy skills while helping to save the planet. Participating children take part in a series of author events including award-winning sisters Amy and Ella Meek who founded Kids Against Plastic and Be Climate Clever, Doncaster paleontologist Dr Dean Lomax, and National Geographic Kids magazine. Last year, some 10,000 children took part.

This year, schools and families can take part in an exciting creative writing competition to get children to become change-makers for the environment in their home city, so far in partnership with the National Literacy Trust and the Rotary. The prize is a new eco-area for the winning school, and we're looking for some match funding to ensure that this area is the best it can be.

We can offer branding and publicity in return for a £750 contribution to the prize fund, or we are open to other suggestions on how we can make this happen. Please contact our Doncaster hub manager, Phil Sheppard, by emailing to find out more.
