Doncaster Designer Abby Rutland Hosts Illamasqua Founder Julian Kynaston on Abby Chat Slot Podcast
Doncaster-based designer Abby Rutland, Founder of Abigail Bromley Brand & Design, releases a special new episode of her brand themed podcast Abby Chat Slot.
Following a series of high-profile guest interviews and rising audience figures, the popular local show focuses on demystifying branding and marketing for SMEs, and has quickly become one of Yorkshire’s most exciting creative podcasts.
This latest conversation features Julian Kynaston - Founder of Propaganda Agency Ltd, Creator of Illamasqua, and Chair of GenM Official, the collective driving menopause awareness and workplace inclusivity. Julian is also an accredited Management Consultancy recognised by the Financial Times and the first branding agency to join the prestigious Management Consultancies Association (MCA).
Kynaston discusses his journey from Yorkshire entrepreneur to global brand leader, and why he sees his work with GenM Official as his lasting legacy.
“GenM is where everything I’ve done until now comes together - branding, business and human insight. That will be my legacy” said Julian Kynaston.
In a family affair that saw Abby’s mum attend the podcast recording at Distorted in Leeds, Abby and Julian talk candidly about courage, honesty, and purpose in branding - how great agencies give their clients bravery and why sometimes, “the best branding decision is to do nothing.”
“Hosting this conversation during Menopause Month felt incredibly fitting,” Abby explains. “It’s about brands being brave enough to serve real human needs - and Julian embodies that.”
Recent episodes of the podcast have featured leading Northern creatives such as Simon Brown (Joe Browns), Si Lewis (Fernbank Digital), and Elliot Ghali (Example Marketing). The show delivers unparalleled insight into the world of creative business and brand leadership - making it an ideal platform for entrepreneurs, marketers, business owners and those interested in branding and creative sectors.

The show is made possible by local sponsors, including: RecCreate Ltd, Silkwood Studio and Sol and Flex. Together, they’re helping grow a platform that celebrates real people, honest insights, and brands that make a difference.
