Commenting on the outline business case submitted to the Government by the Sheffield City Region, Doncaster Council and the Peel Group, which could deliver a new national and regional rail connection to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Dan Fell, CEO at Doncaster Chamber welcomed the proposal and said:
“A rail link to the airport is an essential piece of infrastructure that is currently missing. I fully support this compelling proposal which will not only directly benefit the airport, but will also act as a springboard for significant economic growth in the region, attracting new business and creating new jobs”.
“Presently, leisure and business travellers alike are leaving the region to fly from other airports. This is costing time and money whilst also harming the environment. Further developing Doncaster Sheffield Airport provides an opportunity to keep flyers local and reduce the overall carbon footprint of peoples’ travel plans; similarly, providing rail access to Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the surrounding area will – in time – take hundreds of thousands of cars off the road.”
