The new discretionary grant has been established to support the recovery of the local economy. Eligible businesses can access grants of up to £5,000.
Business Director at Doncaster Chamber, Jade Dyer, has strongly urged local businesses to prepare for June’s intake of the Economic Recovery Grant.
The grants, administered by Business Doncaster, specifically seek to encourage business survival, restart and job creation and safeguarding.
Eligible businesses will be able to access grants up to £5,000 to help fund projects in digitalisation, diversification, innovation, Brexit support, start-ups and premises and test trading
Grants are capped at 45 applicants per month. This month, the cap had been reached within hours. So Doncaster Chamber are calling for businesses to prepare now for June applications.
Business Director Jade Dyer said, “The Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent disruption has placed significant pressure on local businesses. For businesses to succeed they need to adapt; these grants will go some way towards helping Doncaster businesses to recover.
“There is high demand and the number of grants available each month is extremely limited. We would urge any businesses who thinks they might be eligible to prepare in advance so they are ready to go on the day the grant application telephone line opens.”
All applicants for the Economic Recovery Grant will be required to provide evidence of eligibility including bank statements and purchase intent.
Grant applications will open again on 1 June.
