Merlinsoft Ltd are proud to announce they have won a national award for their recent PYO Voucher System.
Fruit was ripening in the fields and the Eastern European fruit pickers, who would normally be picking this fruit, were unable to travel because of the coronavirus restrictions. What was the answer? The fruit farmers appealed to the Government for help and the PM, Boris Johnson, appealed to the people for help, He coined the slogan “Pick the fruit, save the farms, feed the nation”. Whilst this was an obvious solution it immediately gave the fruit farmers another problem, how do they control visitor numbers ensuring social distancing and, at the same time, ensure minimal contact with their own staff. Under normal circumstances people would just arrive and pick fruit, weigh it out, make payment and then go home.
The answer to their problem appeared in the shape of Merlinsoft Ltd, who developed a software solution for them. By using a simple online bookings and voucher system the fruit farmers were able to allocate individual picking sessions, with controlled numbers, across the whole of the day.
The system allowed PYO Farms to create their own online bookings platform linked into their own website, which enabled them to allocate time slots, control visitor numbers, take payments online and keep staff contact down to a bare minimum. The whole system could be set up, using all their own branding, and fully operational in an afternoon.
The operation of the system was simplicity itself:
- Step 1 – Go to the PYO Farm’s website (or Facebook page)
- Step 2 - Book a time slot on-line
- Step 3 – Buy an electronic voucher or vouchers for the type of fruit required.
- Step 4 – Arrive at the stated time
- Step 5 – The voucher is scanned and exchanged for a punnet (different types & sizes available)
- Step 6 – Fill the punnet(s) and go home
