Agemaspark Hosts T-Level Engineering Students from Doncaster UTC for Industry Placement
Agemaspark, a leader in precision engineering and advanced manufacturing, is proudly supporting the development of future engineers by hosting two Doncaster UTC students on an industry placement as part of their T-Level in Engineering.
Charlotte Thompson and Louis Simpson, both aged 17, joined Doncaster UTC in Year 9 and are now in the first year of their two-year T-Level qualification. As part of the course, which blends classroom learning with meaningful industry experience, the pair have just completed the first three weeks of a full-time placement at Agemaspark.
During their time so far, Charlotte and Louis have gained hands-on experience across a variety of engineering disciplines. They have designed keyrings using CAD software which were then brought to life using Agemaspark’s state-of-the-art 3D metal printer. They have also developed designs for plastic 3D printing, and worked on CNC machining tasks, including components for x-ray equipment.

Louis particularly enjoyed working on the CNC milling machines and lathes, and collaborating with toolmakers in the assembly department.
“I’ve really liked getting involved with the toolmakers,” said Louis. “Working on the injection mould tool assemblies and understanding how everything fits together has been one of the best parts so far.”
Charlotte has found value in experiencing the full range of roles within the business.
“I’m really enjoying learning about all the different parts of engineering, so I couldn’t choose a favourite,” she said. “It’s all been interesting, and I’ve already expressed an interest in applying for an apprenticeship with Agemaspark after my T-Levels.”
Paul Stockhill, Managing Director at Agemaspark, commented:
“It’s been a pleasure having Charlotte and Louis with us. They’ve shown great enthusiasm and have embraced every opportunity to learn. T-Levels are a fantastic way to prepare young people for industry, and we’re proud to be playing a role in developing their skills and understanding of real-world engineering.”
Jim Semmelroth, Principal at Doncaster utc, said:
“We are delighted that our students have been given this opportunity to gain experience in a precision engineering setting. The practical application of the skills they have been using in school will give them a great foundation and prepare them for their future working in the engineering sector. Agemaspark are one of our founding employer partners and the dedication and time they give to our students is fantastic.”
Charlotte and Louis will return to Doncaster UTC after completing their initial four-week placement and are scheduled to return to Agemaspark in June for a further five weeks to continue building their industry knowledge and experience.
This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of Doncaster UTC and Agemaspark to support young talent and strengthen the future of the UK engineering sector through practical, high-quality training.
