The Premiere Documentary

In April 1966, a Soviet Yak 28  “Fire Bar” aircraft plunged into Lake Havel, crashing in the British Sector of Berlin. What followed was far more than an aircraft recovery.

With the wreckage laying tantalisingly close, Britain saw a rare intelligence opportunity. Tasked with coordinating the recovery was BRIXMIS — the British Commanders’-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany.

Through deception, daring and meticulous planning, British intelligence conducted one of the boldest espionage missions of the Cold War, extracting secrets from the wreckage while Soviet forces watched closely.

If this story were fiction, it would have been written by Ian Fleming — but this was real, and the stakes were global.
