Description
If you are new to import or keen to gain a greater understanding of the UK border operating model, then join us for this training session which focusses on the mechanics of the import process.
Course Overview:
Since January 2021, the UK's border operating model has seen the phased introduction of import procedures for goods arriving from the EU and new technological platforms - in particular the Customs Declaration Service.
All too often, companies are unaware of the legal obligations of the importer of record for 3rd country imports into the UK customs territory.
Legal responsibility is not something that can be randomly delegated to an agent or freight forwarder. They can act on your behalf, but the ultimate responsibility is with the importer to give clear instruction - which requires an understanding of import terminology, procedures and an array of customs and compliance requirements.
If you are new to import or keen to gain a greater understanding of the import journey, then join us for this training session which focusses on the mechanics of the import process. In an interactive environment, we will explore the import journey into the UK and key issues you need to consider.
Content:
- Key terminology
- The import process
- The UK Border Operating Model
- Customs clearance - systems and process
- Overview of CDS
- Customs valuation
- Impact of changes to the UK Global Tariff
- Management of Duties and VAT
- Customs authorisations
- Compliance considerations
Delegates will leave with comprehensive course notes, reliable reference sources, and, most importantly, greater confidence in their understanding of the import process and how to make imports as frictionless as possible. They will also understand customs procedures and key compliance issues in order to prepare their business for a potential customs audit.
This course is suitable for staff within an organisation that have a responsibility for purchasing, logistics, finance and compliance.
