Hospice Hike 2026 Take on a scenic 13.5-mile sponsored walk through the beautiful Doncaster countryside while helping raise vital funds for local hospice care. Date and start time: Saturday 15 August 2026, 10am to 4pm. Location: Nursery Lane, Low Sprotbrough, Doncaster, DN5 7NB (near The Boat Inn) Organised by St John’s Hospice, this brand-new fundraising event welcomes walkers of all abilities with a moderate level of fitness.
The route is largely flat with a few short ascents and descents and is also dog friendly. Participants will enjoy a carefully planned countryside route passing through: Sprotbrough Flash Nature Reserve Melton Wood Barnburgh Adwick Washlands RSPB Reserve Bolton-on-Dearne The Trans Pennine Trail Harlington Denaby Ings Conisbrough Viaduct Riverside paths along the River Don The walk offers a mix of woodland trails, open countryside, riverside scenery, and wildlife-rich reserves, with refreshment opportunities available in Barnburgh and Bolton-on-Dearne.
Why take part? Every mile walked and every pound raised will help St John’s Hospice continue providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care for local patients and their families. Registration is free, but participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship to support hospice services across Doncaster and the surrounding area.
