Description
Doncaster Council is inviting city centre and nearby businesses to a roundtable discussion about the Southern Gateway — one of the city’s most important transport corridors linking Doncaster’s business, retail and leisure areas with the wider region.
The Council has secured central government funding to invest in this route, focusing on improvements that will make it easier, safer and more reliable for customers, employees and visitors to access the city centre.
Why this matters for your business
The Southern Gateway proposals are designed to:
- Enhance access to workplaces, retail areas and the city centre through improved walking, cycling and public transport connections
- Increase footfall by creating safer, better-lit and more attractive public spaces
- Support sustainable travel choices for staff and customers, aligning with corporate ESG and net zero goals
- Reduce congestion on key approaches by encouraging alternative, more efficient travel modes
Join the conversation
At the roundtable we’ll share:
- An overview of the proposed improvements along Cleveland Street, Trafford Way, White Rose Way and Middle Bank
- How the scheme aims to make journeys by walking, cycling and public transport safer and more efficient
- Opportunities for collaboration on business access, communications and placemaking
The scheme is currently in the planning stages and yet to be approved. Detailed construction and phasing plans will be developed at a later stage, with direct engagement taking place with businesses and residents once a contractor is appointed.
This is your opportunity to influence how Doncaster’s city centre gateways evolve — ensuring the project delivers real benefits for your business and for the city’s future growth.
Please note: Attendance is limited to businesses located within the Southern Gateway catchment area.
