Description
Join Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity for our first charity challenge event, taking on the stunning Yorkshire 3 Peaks in 12 hours to help us support local families through the heartache of baby loss. In February 2022, we launched The Serenity Appeal to help us raise vital funds to enhance our bereavement services for maternity. This will include a specialist bereavement suite for Doncaster Royal Infirmary, a mobile ultrasound scanner and refurbishments to two counselling rooms for our Early Pregnancy Unit.
To make this possible we need to raise £150,000 and the funds you raise from taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge will help bring us one step closer to making these enhancements possible.
To register your place for the challenge, please visit https://dbthcharity.co.uk/our-events/
Starting in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, you will begin your journey hiking up Pen-Y-Ghent, past Ribblehead Viaduct to ascend Whernside and finally tackle the short scramble up Ingleborough before heading back into Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
You will be guided by qualified walking leaders who will support you to complete the hike safely, with check points along the way offering refreshments and support from our Charity Team.
The Peaks you will be climbing includes:
Pen-y-ghent (694 metres)
Whernside (736 metres)
Ingleborough (723 metres)
This challenge is suitable for both individuals and teams but you will need a good level of fitness to take part. The minimum age is 16 and all under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the duration of the event. Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on the walk.
As part of your registration, you’ll receive a welcome pack filled with ideas to help you train and prepare for the big day as well as plenty of fundraising tips to help you reach your target. All participants will also receive a special t-shirt to wear on the day.
You will also be invited to take part in training walks with our friends at Kuta Outdoors, more information will be included with your welcome pack.
