Description:
This course provides the knowledge and expertise required to administer the UK construction industry scheme. It also examines the important compliance issues within the construction industry and the impact of recent legislation.
Course Modules:
- Introduction to the construction industry scheme Which businesses fall under CIS , role of the contractor and subcontractor, registration with HMRC. Introduction to Kevin Simpson and Standen Building Company Ltd case studies.
- Status and verification Employee vs subcontractor, Gross status, verification with HMRC.
- Deductions and Returns Labour and materials , CIS Returns and certificates. Claiming CIS suffered on tax returns.
- Domestic Reverse charge For VAT Overview ,compliance and Impact on cashflow.
- IR35 Overview, compliance and impact on contractors.
Course Requirements No prior knowledge required
Learning Outcomes Through case studies learners will be able to understand how the roles of contractor and subcontractor operate within a business scenario and the importance of compliance with HMRC
Assessment Will be by mini quizzes at the end of each module
