These forums will facilitate collaborative thinking among the industry leaders and are designed to generate discussion and insights on the challenges and opportunities in this sector. Each session will have a theme and a panel of guest speakers that will approach the subject from different vantage points. The forums will be a platform to stimulate, educate and drive collaboration, partnerships and foster business opportunities and growth.
Our guest panel at this forum will be the team from South Yorkshire Community Foundation. They will focus on ways that they can help you and your organisation and give an overview of the great work they have done over the past year in Doncaster.
South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation exists to support and build strong and resilient communities across the region. We support community groups with grant funding, to help people facing hardship and disadvantage and those working to improve the communities they live in. We connect people who care about South Yorkshire and have the means to invest in its future with the community groups striving to build stronger and healthier communities. Sam Caldwell is the Head of Grants for SYCF, and will be speaking about the role of the community foundation, the grants programmes currently open to applicants in Doncaster (including Community Grants, the Cutlers Company Grassroots Fund, and the Tween Bridge Windfarm Community Benefits Fund), and what sorts of work we want to support. Sam will also speak about SYCF’s role in the Social Enterprise Exchange, and how it can support social enterprises in Doncaster.
The South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau (SYFAB) is a service provided by SYCF to support community organisations. Finding the resources you need so you can run the projects and activities that are important in your community is a constant challenge. SYFAB can help you find useful information about funding, learn the skills to become a successful fundraiser, and get specific help with your funding. SYFAB provides information, advice and training on funding and fundraising to community and voluntary organisations. Peter Foyle is the Senior Funding manager at SYFAB, and will talk about what funders look for in a strong grant application and how you can find the right funding for your charity at a challenging time for our sector.
